Lobster Mashed Potatoes
Lobster mashed potatoes are a luxurious twist on the classic mashed potato dish, perfect for special occasions or when you want to impress your guests with a gourmet side.
The rich, buttery flavor of lobster pairs beautifully with the creamy, smooth texture of mashed potatoes, creating a decadent dish that elevates any meal.
Whether served alongside steak, grilled seafood, or roasted chicken, lobster mashed potatoes add an indulgent touch. This recipe combines the comfort of mashed potatoes with the elegance of lobster, making it an unforgettable side dish for any dinner party or celebration.
Ingredients:
2 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
1 lb lobster meat, cooked and chopped (fresh or frozen)
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup milk (more if needed for desired consistency)
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)
1 tsp lemon juice
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1/4 tsp paprika (optional, for garnish)
1 tbsp olive oil (for sautéing lobster)
How to Make:
Prepare the Potatoes: Place the cubed potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
Mash the Potatoes: Use a potato masher or a hand mixer to mash the potatoes to your desired consistency. For extra smooth potatoes, you can use a potato ricer. Add the butter, heavy cream, and milk to the potatoes and continue mashing until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

Cook the Lobster: While the potatoes are cooking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped lobster meat and sauté for 2-3 minutes until warmed through. Be careful not to overcook the lobster, as it can become tough. Once cooked, remove the lobster from the skillet and set aside.
Flavor the Potatoes: In the same skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir the garlic into the mashed potatoes along with the cooked lobster meat, lemon juice, and fresh parsley. Mix well to evenly distribute the lobster throughout the mashed potatoes.
Finish and Serve: Taste the mashed potatoes and adjust the seasoning with more salt, pepper, or lemon juice if needed. Transfer the lobster mashed potatoes to a serving bowl and garnish with additional chopped parsley and a sprinkle of paprika for a pop of color.
Serve: Serve the lobster mashed potatoes immediately as a side dish with your favorite main course. They pair wonderfully with steaks, grilled seafood, or roasted chicken, adding a touch of luxury to any meal.
Chef’s Note:
For an extra rich and creamy version, you can substitute half of the butter with cream cheese or mascarpone cheese, which will add a velvety texture to the mashed potatoes. If you prefer a bit of spice, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce to the potatoes for an added kick.
If you can’t find fresh lobster, you can substitute frozen lobster tails or lobster meat, which works perfectly well in this recipe. If you are looking for a quicker version, you can also use pre-cooked lobster meat. Just be sure to warm it through gently in the skillet to prevent overcooking.
For a lighter version, you can use low-fat milk and substitute half of the butter with olive oil, although this will slightly change the creamy texture of the dish.
